ABOUT US
This is our story…
Over 100 years of experience in burial, cremation services, and concrete products.
In 1907, three brothers started the Terre Haute Coal and Supply Company. They dealt in coal and lumber and manufactured air-seal burial vaults. Because the founders were brothers, everyone referred to the company as “The Forsyth Brothers.”
Carl G. Forsyth was asked to run the family business in the 1950’s. Under his leadership the company discontinued handling coal, and Forsyth Brothers Concrete Products, Inc. was established. The company specialized in manufacturing burial vaults and septic tanks.
In 1969, Forsyth Brothers became a franchise of Doric Association, a group of burial vault manufacturers. In 1971, Carl asked his son-in-law, Jeffrey Bell, to come to work at the family business.
1998 brought the addition of the Trigard vault franchise and a vault business in Fithian, Illinois. Forsyth Brothers built a new shop there, set up to make the plant modern and efficient. After 108 years as a family owned business, in 2015 Forsyth Brothers sold to three brothers from another family in the burial vault business and became Forsyth – Puttmann, LLC.
After 108 years as a family owned business, in 2015 Forsyth Brothers sold to three brothers from another family in the burial vault business and became Forsyth – Puttmann, LLC. Greg, Tim and Brian Puttmann are the sons of Charles Puttmann who purchased Wilbert Burial Vaults in 1957. Raised in the Burial Vault industry they bring forward a breadth of knowledge and resources. Chris and Matt Puttmann, sons of Brian, brings fresh ideas as we look to the future of this business.
2015 also marks the loss of two life time leaders in the burial vault industry, Jeffrey A. Bell and Greg A. Puttmann. Sadly, at Forsyth – Puttmann, we understand the grief which the families of our customers are going through. We know that it is very important to take care of these family members at the cemetery during such a vulnerable time.
Today, we are striving to make new concrete mixes, to create even stronger vaults that will be on the cutting edge of concrete technology. We continually ask for feedback from our customers, and thus continue to develop and learn about the needs of families and funeral homes throughout central Indiana and Illinois. We tailor our service to the needs of the families while reaching the highest standards and take great pride in the family business.
